BSF (WHITWORTH FINE THREAD)
BSF (British Standard Fine) is a finer version of BSW (British Standard Whitworth) with more threads per inch (TPI), resulting in a stronger and more precise connection. BSF threads have the same 55° thread angle as BSW but with a finer pitch, making them suitable for applications requiring high strength and vibration resistance.
Characteristics:
- Thread Profile: 55° angle
- Thread Count: More threads per inch than BSW
- Applications: Aerospace, automotive industry, precision machinery, vintage British engines and machinery
- Advantages:
- Stronger connections than BSW
- Better resistance to vibrations
- Suitable for thin-walled materials
BSF threads were widely used in British industry, especially in machinery and vehicles, but today they are mainly found in restoration projects and older mechanical systems.
